The dedicated alternative to Zapier for Google Forms → Slack
Zapier is a generalist. You're paying generalist prices for a single hop: Google Forms response → Slack message. RouteForms does that one job, with conditional routing built in, for a flat $7/month.
- $7/month, unlimited responses
- Routing rules on every paid plan
- Idempotent webhook, no double-posts
At 1,000 responses a month, you're paying Zapier ~$30 for a $7 problem
Zapier's pricing is per task, and one Google Forms response is one task. As soon as you cross ~500 responses, you outgrow the Free plan and you're on Starter or above. That's where the maths starts hurting.
| Monthly responses | RouteForms | Zapier |
|---|---|---|
| 100 / month | Free | Free (100 task cap) |
| 500 / month | Free or $7 | Free → throttled |
| 1,000 / month | $7 (Solo) | ~$30 (Starter) |
| 5,000 / month | $7 (Solo) | ~$80 (Professional) |
| 10,000 / month | $7 or $49 | ~$80+ (overage) |
| 25,000 / month | $49 (Agency) | ~$160+ (Company) |
The savings get bigger the more responses you handle, and RouteForms stays flat. Add routing to a Zap and you also pay the price differential to access Paths.
Feature matrix
| Feature | RouteForms | Zapier |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Flat $7/month (Solo), unlimited responses | Per-task, with overage on bursts |
| Cost at 1,000 responses/month | $7 | ~$30 (Starter) |
| Cost at 10,000 responses/month | $7 (Solo) or $49 (Agency) | ~$80+ (Professional) |
| Conditional routing | Built in, included on every paid plan | Paths feature, Professional+ |
| Numeric routing (>, ≥, <, ≤) | Built in, currency- and comma-tolerant | Paths + Formatter step |
| Setup time | ~2 minutes (paste Apps Script, click Run) | ~10 minutes (authorise Zapier on Google + Slack, build Zap) |
| Retry a failed delivery | One click in the dashboard | Manual replay from history, costs another task |
| Idempotency on retries | DB-level dedupe on response ID | Each replay can produce a duplicate Slack post |
| Multi-client (agency) | Client workspaces on Agency plan | One Zap per client, or Teams plan |
| Burst handling | Posts to Slack in real time | Queues during spikes; latency depends on plan |
| Number of integrations | Two (Google Forms + Slack), done well | 7,000+, but you pay for all of them |
What we won't pretend
We're not trying to replace Zapier wholesale, and you shouldn't either if your automation graph spans many tools. Zapier is the right call when:
- Your form response needs to update HubSpot, add a row to Notion, send a SendGrid email, AND notify Slack, a multi-app chain is exactly what Zapier was built for
- You're already on a paid Zapier plan that covers other workflows and the Google-Forms-to-Slack hop is rounding error
- You need an integration RouteForms doesn't have (we have Google Forms in and Slack out, period)
For everything else, agencies running one form per client, SaaS teams piping demo requests to Slack, real-estate brokers triaging leads, course operators routing enquiries. RouteForms is purpose-built for the one job and priced for it.
The 5-minute migration plan
You don't have to commit to switching before you test. Here's the path:
- Sign up to the RouteForms Free plan (30 responses, no card)
- Paste the same Slack webhook URL your current Zap uses, so submissions land in the same channel
- Copy the Apps Script we generate into your Google Form, click Run once to install the trigger
- Submit a test response and verify it lands in Slack
- Run both the Zap and RouteForms for a day. Watch the delivery log inside RouteForms, every submission shows the Slack response code
- Disable the Zap when you're confident. Move routing rules over to RouteForms's Routing rules tab and use the simulator to verify before going live

Frequently asked questions
Is RouteForms a Zapier alternative?▾
Only for one specific job: getting Google Forms responses into Slack. Zapier is a general-purpose automation platform that connects 7,000+ apps. RouteForms does one hop very well. Google Forms → Slack, with conditional routing, idempotency, retries, and a delivery log, and we charge a flat fee for it instead of per task.
Why would I switch from Zapier?▾
Three reasons agencies and SaaS teams switch. (1) Cost. Zapier charges per task, so 1,000 form responses a month already pushes you onto Starter at ~$30. RouteForms is $7/month for unlimited responses. (2) Routing, sending different responses to different Slack channels needs Zapier Paths, which sits on a higher tier; RouteForms includes routing on every paid plan. (3) Reliability. Zapier queues during bursts and replays of failed Zaps consume more tasks.
What about Make.com, n8n, or Pipedream?▾
Same trade-off. Make, n8n, and Pipedream are powerful general-purpose tools, well worth the configuration cost when you're chaining many systems. For Google Forms → Slack alone, a dedicated tool sets up in two minutes, costs less, and is easier to debug.
Will my existing Zap still work during the switch?▾
Yes. RouteForms uses a separate Apps Script trigger inside your Google Form, so you can run both in parallel for a day to verify RouteForms is delivering correctly before turning the Zap off. The migration playbook on our Without-Zapier page walks through it.
Does RouteForms have all the integrations Zapier has?▾
No, and we're not trying to. We're not a 'pick from a list of 7,000 apps' platform. If you need Google Forms to update HubSpot and add a row to Notion and notify Slack, keep using Zapier for HubSpot and Notion, and use RouteForms for the Slack hop, which is the one where per-task pricing hurts most.
Is there a free tier I can try?▾
Yes. The Free plan handles 30 responses per month with one form and a single default Slack destination, enough to validate end-to-end delivery before you decide whether to switch off Zapier. No credit card.
What does delivery look like at scale?▾
RouteForms runs on Vercel functions pinned to Singapore, with idempotency on the Google Forms response ID. End-to-end latency for a single submission is typically under three seconds. Apps Script fires the webhook, we evaluate the rules, we post to Slack, you see it. Bursts don't queue: there's no per-account task quota to ration against.
What if I'm not sure RouteForms is enough?▾
Start on the Free plan, mirror your Zap for a day, and see how it goes. Submissions land in the dashboard and you can compare deliveries side-by-side. If you hit a gap, email us, we'll either show you how to do it or be honest that you should stay on Zapier for now.
